Rep. Coordinator Report February 12,
2008.
During the past four weeks I have been
involved with discipline issues, I feel they have been
processed, addressed, and concluded. I encourage anyone who
feels otherwise to put their concerns in writing; I will
investigate and respond to the best of my inexperienced
ability.
The affiliation of players and the
involvement of Rep. and house league coaches seem to be
functioning effectively especially when all rules and
polices are followed as dictated in the HNS Constitution
handbook. Thank you all for your cooperation. If you are
still unsure how the affiliation set up works please do not
hesitate to contact me.
We have learnt some difficult things this
year and as a coach it is in your best interest to keep
track of all of your courses; coaches levels, speak out, and
trainer courses. Also it is important to realize and
maintain when working with children a CAR-child abuse
registration and a CRC- criminal record check must be update
every three years.
When preparing for the coaching selection
process 2008/2-009, it will be necessary to have your plan
for the year on hand! Players and team development, team
awareness and bonding, parental support and how you can
provide a positive experience to the players that you will
be involved with. Let’s get things on track, let’s prepare
the best group to lead our players. Let’s be accountable to
the membership and provide the best hockey experience for
ALL the players involved with the EHMHA.
Coaches—things that are a little late to
know this year but certainly will be good for next year;
Ø
Injury reports, to be completed
for all injuries (have extra copies on hand to give to
parents of injured players so the reports come back to
you-the coaches).
Ø
Injury log, to be kept by the
coach on all injuries that occur while playing or practicing
hockey with the team.
Ø
Copies of the injury reports and
logs can be found on the HNS web site or in the trainer’s
educational binder (Hockey Safety).
For some of you this is old hat and you
assume everyone should know this, for us newcomers it is all
new. Share your knowledge help each other be right.
See attached the 11 commandments of an
Enthusiastic Team;
P.S: REMEMBER-players must have full
equipment on at all time, practice and games—especially neck
guards!
Whoever opens-gets the key to the
dressing room is responsible for the players until a coach
arrives!
Respectfully prepared;
Barbara Lyons Cardinal,
Rep. Coordinator.
